 Q. What seeds are embedded into the paper?

Answer: Our paper includes  - Bush Basil (ocimum basilicum), Oregano (origanum vulgare), Dill (anethum graveolens), Coriander (coriandrum sativum), a variety of French Marigold (tagetes patula), Chamoline (matricaria recutita), Marigold Pot (calendula), Rudbeckia Purperea (echinacea), Forget Me Not (Myosotis), Viper Bugloss (echium vulgare), Nigella Persian Jewels (nigella damascena), Yarrow (achillea millefolium), Musk Mallow (malva moschata), Betony (stachys officinalis), Dame's Rocket (hesperis matronalis), Cornflowers (centaurea cyanus), Borage (borago officinalis), Sweet William (dianthus barbatus) and Wild Pansy (viola tricolor).

 Q. How do you plant it?

Answer:

  1. Soak the seed paper in water, this allows the seeds to swell which aids germination.
  2. Plant a single layer of the paper flat in a pot (or the ground) and cover with a thin layer of compost in sunny spot, watering regularly to keep moist until the seedlings are established, ensuring the soil does not dry out.
  3. Germination time is approximately 7 to 10 days and if planting outdoors best time to sow is from late spring once the frost has passed.

 Q. How is the paper made?

Answer: The paper itself is made by artisan paper makers using old and traditional techniques. They use pure cotton and linen fibres which are pulped with Exmoor spring water, and then our unique seeds mix is added. Each sheet is formed individually using traditional English hand moulds and deckles, then laid onto cloth felts unique to the mill and pressed four times to impart the gorgeous knot texture for which the mill is noted. It then air dried completing the process.
